Tasers, also known as Conductive Energy Devices (CEDs), are handheld weapons that use electricity to temporarily incapacitate a person. They work by firing two barbed darts connected by wires, which deliver a high-voltage, low-amperage electric shock that disrupts muscle control. This “neuromuscular incapacitation” causes pain and involuntary muscle contractions, leading to temporary immobilization.
